What Time Is It in Tahiti? ## 1st April 2025 # **What time is it in Tahiti?** ## **When we move forward, nothing changes there...** While we set our clocks forward or back to follow the seasonal rhythm imposed at home, a common question arises: "But in Tahiti, do they change the time too?" The answer is simple: no. In French Polynesia, there is no change of time. The time zone remains the same all year round: UTC -10. So, what is the time difference with the mainland? - When on mainland time in winter, there is an 11-hour difference (e.g., 10 a.m. in Paris = 11 p.m. the day before in Papeete) - During summer time, the difference shifts to 12 hours A perfect time difference for dreaming in reverse, or sending a message at midnight, for it to arrive... yesterday! ## **A solar rhythm, closest to nature** In Tahiti, time is not dictated by a watch but by daylight. Night falls early, often around 6 p.m., and days begin with the sun. The **Polynesians live by the rhythm of the sea**, the wind, the waves – and not by **time zones**. - The **sunrise** is often a special time: people go fishing, meditate, or gather. - The **sunset**, spectacular on the islands, marks the end of the day, often accompanied by songs, gatherings, or simply moments of calm. ## **A different relationship with time** There, they don't chase time; they inhabit it. There is a **philosophy of slowing down**, a way of being present in the moment.
